If you have important focused work that needs your attention, you may likely use an approach that involves focused work blocks of uninterrupted time where you turn everything off, set a timer and dive deep into your work. It’s an awesome concept I adopted a few years back that’s been great help for me.
I’ve recently discovered adding scheduled Refresh time inside that block at the end. If I’m going to dedicate 1hour towards a project, I may work for 48 minutes and use the last 12 minutes to refresh. Refresh time is not for any kind of work at all. I’ll do something I enjoy. Something relaxing like a brief walk or glancing at sports scores or messing with a little mindless game or a puzzle.
This refresh time allows the brain a chance to reset so it can return get back on track to the next priority… refreshed and ready! Give it a try.
